My view

Welcome to 'Bird's Eye View'!

When I was 18 my father handed me a Nikon and told me to get in the car. We drove through sleepy little Iowa towns and down winding gravel roads. He started me on what will be a life long journey of seeing the world through the lens of my camera.

To me photography is an art. The art of capturing a moment or a natural expression is what I love to do. I will give you direction and then find your personality within that pose.

What I see through my lens is no different than what you see every day - the only difference is I have the ability to stop time and provide you with those memories.

Contact me at katie (dot) reints (at) gmail (dot) com to inquire about a session.

Project 365: Day 71 My first camera

This is the camera that my father gave me when I was 18. It was an old camera then, but film was readily available. Nowadays not so much.

I took so many photos with this camera. Some of my all time favorite even to this day.

I shot mostly black and white so my father and I could develop the film in his darkroom.

I can still smell the developer.

All of those negatives that we developed have never been digitized. They were literally locked in a cabinet and the key was lost. Since I now have the ability to scan these beloved negatives I have put my father in charge of drilling that cabinet open!

I am sure that it will be a while before I can get to them..... but it will happen.

And then I will be able to see how my view has changed over the years.

My parents have an old camera from when I was a baby that I am itching to try and use. :)

Those are great shots of your camera.

I no longer have my first camera, because it broke in the middle of a trip to Alaska, but I still have my second non-digital SLR camera!

I'll always have fond memories of that first one, though. I have also taken some of my all-time favorite shots with B&W film I developed myself in a darkroom.

This one is the favorite shot.
