My view

Welcome to 'Bird's Eye View'!

When I was 18 my father handed me a Nikon and told me to get in the car. We drove through sleepy little Iowa towns and down winding gravel roads. He started me on what will be a life long journey of seeing the world through the lens of my camera.

To me photography is an art. The art of capturing a moment or a natural expression is what I love to do. I will give you direction and then find your personality within that pose.

What I see through my lens is no different than what you see every day - the only difference is I have the ability to stop time and provide you with those memories.

50 years later...

Yesterday my mom and I took a trip down her memory lane. She was born and lived in Charles City, Iowa until she was ten years old. Her 60th birthday is on Tuesday. She had not been back to the home that she has so many memories since it was demolished a few years ago.

A family friend purchased the homestead and cleared the 27 acres to the river. They have developed the property into an amazingly beautiful retreat. There are 4 cabins-- and a lodge. The cabins sleep up to 8 people a piece.

The one building that they kept on the property was the one that is picture below. It was behind the old home. During the summers her family moved into the cabin to sleep. It was a cool retreat from the non-air conditioned home.

The cabin was actually the first in Floyd County. It oozes history from every corner.

I could not help but picture my mother the same age as Sam playing just as he did yesterday around the outside of the cabin.
