My view

Welcome to 'Bird's Eye View'!

When I was 18 my father handed me a Nikon and told me to get in the car. We drove through sleepy little Iowa towns and down winding gravel roads. He started me on what will be a life long journey of seeing the world through the lens of my camera.

To me photography is an art. The art of capturing a moment or a natural expression is what I love to do. I will give you direction and then find your personality within that pose.

What I see through my lens is no different than what you see every day - the only difference is I have the ability to stop time and provide you with those memories.

This is my favorite part of our new house... the sunsets.

Mums in the fall make me happy :)

This is what is left of the flowers in our yard. You can tell that summer is gone and fall is in the air!

It had been seven days since I picked up my camera and I am having serious guilt because of it...

I am one weird gal that feels sorry for her camera when it is not being used--- well I suppose I am sorry for myself too.

I wish I could cut myself some slack-- I mean I AM moving and finishing a house and living with In-Laws and out of suitcases right now... but...

Man I miss my camera!

who am I to pass up a challenge?

I came across a new photo 'challenge' through a blog I read and thought I would participate....

Besides, the only thing I like better then taking pictures is editing them.

This is Brent Riggs original photo that he took and asked others to edit:

This is my edit:

Very rarely do I take a photo that I do not at the very least crop, adjust the exposure, or tweak the lighting. I did all of those things with this one (and a few more). Since all I had at my fingertips for editing was Picnik, I used it!
Head over to Brent Riggs blog to have some editing fun and get some quick tips from him in the process!

Car show in my backyard

Sunday was a great day.

It was in the mid seventies.

Sunny. Breezy. Beautiful.

After helping us all summer with our new house, it was awesome to see grandpa relax...

...and take in the sights.

This morning I had a very hard time explaining to the boys why all the cars were gone.

Gabe, 21 months

August in Iowa

When I stepped out of the house with my camera my lens fogged up.

This little guy was quick... I am surprised I caught him!
Believe me though, I did not get very close.

With the heat index, and 90% humidity we are experiencing temps that feel like 110 degrees.

We have also had records amount of rain causing creeks to flood and major highways to close.

People may not like this weather....

The plants, however, are enjoying the swamp known as Iowa this year.
